“Today, Isaac Reid is back with a soulful, self-produced joint, “No Beginning”.
Our first chance at meeting Isaac Reid was in 2013 with his debut ‘Nothing To Lose’, he was a 24 year old coming into his own, sharing his heartfelt sentiments over a collection of Trakksound and Knock City’s instrumentals. Standouts like “Good Morning” and “Changing Lately” featuring Houston legend, Devin the Dude, make the case for Isaac as a breath of fresh air in a “money, sex, drug” polluted culture. Reid painted visions of strength and vulnerability for listeners as he unleashed stories of family, lost love and other poetic sequences in his life.
His second project, ‘Test Of Time’, Isaac still resonates with soul and charisma on a nine-track EP. Though slightly ‘darker’ the wordsmith placed emphasis on his growth and maturity as an artist. Utilizing multi-syllabic phrases, a wide array of metaphors and imagery, He also expanded his talents into the realm of production, co-producing 4 out of the 9 tracks; where today, he produces all of his own material. Reid cultivated a sound unlike any other in Houston; while recalling the conscious-type lyrics Mos Def spilled in the 90s. For the most part, Isaac’s music goes almost untouched by the influence of modern-day southern rap. His music remains his own; as he said “These cats out here reppin’ cities, but it’s bigger than that” on “I Made It”, he’s observing his independence as well as redefining the culture.
After over a year of silence, Sir Isaac looks to have hit another gear in his stride to the top.”
